The proposal, one of more than 200 applications made under the new funding framework, will see innovative research conducted in two schools from the Nelson region. 10 teachers from a range of curriculum areas will work together to systematically research and record their critical reflections and experiences with e-learning.
The choice of blogging as the format to publish both the research methodology and findings is intended to create an accessible and real-time live resource for other teachers. “The findings from this project are highly transferable to others in education interested in blended learning and engagement,” Sarah Johns, project co-leader, explains.
The proposal has its roots in a 2012-2014 pilot project, involving teachers from Nayland College and Nelson College for Girls and funded by the PPTA. “Many schools across the Nelson community are very interested in the growing development of blended learning as a teaching strategy as they are already using a number of e-tools effectively themselves,” project co-leader Gaye Bloomfield explains.
Research is set to begin in Term 3.
